Guard caught red-handed

When Damien Hirst's diamond skull was exhibited
at White Cube earlier this year, as well as a
guard on duty 24/7, it had a secret safe hidden
underneath, into which the fifty million pound
skull would drop at the end of the day. On one
occasion, after the gallery had closed, the
guard turned round and saw the skull had
vanished! New to the job and unaware of the
existence of the safe, the guard pressed
the alarm and called for help. All was well,
the skull was in its safe, and the guard was
suitably embarrassed. Although not as
embarrassed as he was later, when gallery staff
had checked the cctv to see what had happened,
and saw that the guard had missed what had
gone on because he was standing in the corner
of the room having a crafty wank.

Note to self:

After a tutor's review I have been feeling a bit despondant. It's not that what she was saying was wrong, but hard to swallow.
"Why go to university," She asked, "If you aren't going to push yourself into something new and learn? That's what they'll wonder at the Univeristy interview. What is this woman going to get from this?"

So in short.

Progress Shmogress

Well.
Two out of three from the group added to this thing aint bad! Getting there.
The flickr group is growing well, although more of you original Art Bollox members should sign up for it too. Taking over the world and all that etc etc.

Pop Here to see how the group pool of art stands at the moment. Obviously remember to comment freely!

I might find out how many of the new group members enjoy writing as well. See if we can bring a little more life into this group blog.

Moving Oneself

For a brief on Self Image, I was exploring unusual portrait angles and whatnot, when I saw some other art based on a landscape photoscene and timelapse photography but also with a moving of the camera as well. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get my idea across totally with my photographer, but did produce the above from referrence shots. I like the idea of representing myself in movement, the energy moving across from one pose to the other, making the next one exist. Directional ripples. I would have liked to continue with some more in this theme, but there is a time limit on this brief, and frankly that was last week already!
Busy busy busy.

Manifesto

Art is about creating, and with creation comes meaning, interpretation, subliminal messaging [Commission Our Artists], surrealism, judgement, persecution, critique, reviews, writings, words.
All these separate entities from the original piece of art, some of which never even dreamed of by the artist.
This is 'Art bollocks'. And we take it by the metaphoric hand and shake it vigorously until one of us winces and lets go.
Our collective creates, and watches the art bollocks ripple outwards with a grin.

Thus Art Bollox is born.
